LOFRESE SPA

Lofrese Spa is a company located in Gravina in Puglia – in the largest area of southern Italy dedicated to the cultivation of legumes – characterized by a certified and controlled 100% Italian supply chain. Today we are among the very few companies in Italy that can boast a vertically integrated supply chain. We choose our partners from Apulia, Basilicata, Molise and Sicily regions. We sign agreements allowing us to follow the product from sowing to harvesting, from quality control to storage, from cleaning, selection and decortication, to packaging and transport.

OUR BUSINESS MODEL:
THE CONTROLLED SUPPLY LINE.

The supply chain model applied by Lofrese, provides for the stipulation of direct contracts with local farmers. Today about 100 Italian farms have joined our controlled supply chain model and collaborate with us. Each operator of the chain signs a specific disciplinary in which he undertakes to ensure compliance with the required standards, through the verification of the documents of conformity and the analytical guarantees on pesticides and GMOs as well as the indicated working methods and good practices. We provide farmers with our best seeds. Our agronomists closely follow each phase, offering all the necessary support to ensure consistently high standards. Before storage, all incoming loads are analysed and then transferred to the selection and cleaning departments thanks to a fully automated new generation plant.

THE GREEN APPROACH OF OUR COMPANY

While tracing the lines of its future development, Lofrese Spa has adopted with increasing conviction an entrepreneurial philosophy attentive to ecology and sustainability issues.

Absence of use of chemical synthesis substances

For us, organic is not a trend. It is with conviction that we cultivate our fields organically with the desire to make good products by taking care of mankind and the environment.

Water saving

Legumes have little need for water because their root systems are deep. Thanks to their taproots the plants are able to meet their water needs on their own.

100% recyclable packaging

The Company’s commitment for the respect of the environment is also reflected in the last production step: the choice of packaging. For all product lines packaged in cardboard boxes, a paper with the FSC Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo is used, to certify the production in respect of the environment, the rights of workers and local populations. Moreover, the use of natural adhesives and water-based printing colours instead of chemical solvents, allows for total recycling of the packaging. A polypropylene plastic material consisting of a fully recyclable structure (PP5) is also chosen for the cellophane packaging.
